Last week, we celebrated our 4th Annual Raju Patnam Computer Science Scholarship award ceremony, and we are thrilled to introduce this year’s outstanding recipients.

Gabriel Lagleva, our main scholarship winner, has impressed us with his dedication and attention to detail. Outside the classroom, he contributes to his school through web development projects. During his technical interview, Gabriel stood out by identifying critical edge cases before writing a single line of code, a skill that sets him apart.

We are also proud to recognize Joel G. as this year’s honorary award recipient. Joel is a Bonner Scholar and will be volunteering with the Spartanburg Community Corps, collaborating with local partners to tackle social and environmental challenges. During his interview, Joel showed remarkable perseverance, knowing exactly when to ask for help to overcome technical hurdles—a sign of true problem-solving potential.

Both recipients are rising juniors, and we’re excited to follow their journeys as they prepare to study abroad in the upcoming school year.

A heartfelt thank you to all the applicants, and to our board members—David Sykes, Aaron Garrett, and Beau Christ—for their continued support. We are also excited to welcome Nicole Tobias, a new assistant professor, as our new Board member!
